“Where to start?! When we first started planning our wedding we knew one of the most important aspects to us was the food! With a pescatarian and nut allergy in the mix we were fed up attending weddings with a dry salmon and a ‘we can’t guarantee its nut free dessert’. We found a venue who allowed us to hire our own caterers and the search began for the food!
Aperyer was recommended to us from our bridesmaids who had attended a wedding fair for us and had told us ‘We tried these cream cheese stuffed things and they were AMAZING! They also got our humour so we know they will get yours!’
They were not wrong, from the first email exchanges Matt and Gemma were so warm and friendly we felt like we were sorting out dinner with friends. They understood everything we wanted to achieve even with our very strange ‘Italian, romantic, rustic’ request they just formed the perfect menu that we couldn’t have even imagined up ourselves.
Even a few weeks before the wedding we had seen some espresso dark chocolate mousses on their Instagram page (the only problem, they post so much good food it makes you want it all!) and we had a call to see if we could add them on as we love espresso martinis so this might be a good fit. Matt’s response, ‘Oh I’ll just make something up and make an espresso martini mousse instead?’ I mean, most wedding venues can barely help you past chicken and fish and here they were making up new desserts for us a few weeks before the wedding!
It genuinely saddens us that we can’t have our catch ups with Gemma and Matt (and eat all the delicious food!) now the wedding has been, but we’re already trying to plan some events just to eat their food again.

Joe and Jess celebrated their wedding in May at Gratton Grange Farm near Bakewell in the glorious Peak District, and this idyllic rural setting provided the most romantic backdrop for their day.
The ceremony was held in the barn which had been beautifully decorated with soft foliage, chandeliers and twinkly lights, after which, their guests showered the couple with confetti before enjoying some fizz and Italian inspired canapes in the courtyard.
Joe and Jess had a real love of Mediterranean eats so guests tucked into a menu of tapas style starters, a hearty family style main course and mini desserts based on the couples’ own favourites (see menu below!) A highlight of our day was the bride and groom sneaking off to come and see us in the catering area just before dessert was served for a sneaky preview of the espresso martini last minute mousse!
As the party got into full swing, guests returned to the pretty courtyard where an open air bar, pop-up photo booth and lots of farm animals kept everyone entertained! After much dancing, and ready for a re-fuel, Jess and Joe chose ‘proper grub’ for their evening buffet and guests tucked into big chip butties as the night drew on.

Slow braised pork cheeks cooked in Pedro Ximenez

Zesty lemon posset with dehydrated lemon
