“Gemma and Matt worked hard to make sure our day was really personal. They spent time talking to us about the food we enjoyed and the atmosphere we wanted to create; the sharing dishes and legs of lamb were perfect for the relaxed family style of eating we wanted.

They were really creative about how to maximise our budget; producing delicious but inexpensive canapés that wowed our 170 guests and being strategic about the use of staff. We really appreciated the lengths they went to to use locally sourced ingredients, for example, the lamb came from a friend’s farm.

We were also really impressed by their flexibility with regards to our venue, managing to put together a working kitchen in the most unlikely of settings! Finally, Matt and Gemma’s insight into the timings of our day and logistics was so useful given that we were not working with an event or wedding planner – we couldn’t have done it without them!

A garden party style reception at the brides’ parents house near Bath was the perfect setting for this summer wedding, with rolling hills and sunshine providing a quintessentially English backdrop.

Ania and James were keen on locally source, seasonal ingredients and helped us source the meat from their friend’s farm which added such a personal touch to the meal. We created a menu of seasonal British canapes and followed with a ‘carved-by-the-guests’ slow roast lamb accompanied by crushed new potatoes and green bean salad.

Acknowleging her Polish roots, the bride ensured things got off to a bang encouraging the guests to enjoy shots of Zubrovka vodka before the chosen carvers donned pinnies and chef hats to serve the guests. The meal was followed by summer berry pavlovas (and more vodka) then as darkness fell the guests tucked into locally-sourced cheeses, freshly baked breads and cured meats. Na zdrowie!
